Blog: Happy 4th of July!!

Hello! <3 So I realized that my American 4th of July celebrations are coming to an end since I'll be living in Japan!  I've never been the super passionately patriotic type, but I have a lot of good memories celebrating this holiday.

First of all, a few pictures to show my makeup and part of my outfit from the day

Top is Tralala with a Forever21 top layered over it.

We went to meet some friends of Takeru's for dinner (which was super yummy Japanese food and cake)

Then after that, we had our own little mini celebration with sparklers I found from years ago XD It was raining heavily all day, so I thought the fireworks were cancelled, but I think they actually weren't X( Oh well....we still had fun!

After we ran out of sparklers, we played with his lighter

Can you tell what he drew?? it's Doraemon!

I'm a kitty <3

Blurry, but I like it anyway XD
And today my friend Matt just got back from his study abroad in Japan! HE GOT ME THE NEW HOKKAIDO MELON CHEESE KIT KATS THAT YOU CAN ONLY GET IN MAJOR JAPANESE AIRPORTS!! I might do another Kit Kat post with just all of the Kit Kats I've ever tried, like a collection, and update it when there's a new one I try! XD

Bye bye ~<3

All the Japanese Kit Kat Flavors I Found!

Everytime I go to Japan, it's my mission to try every Kit Kat flavor that is available!  Here are the ones I was able to get my hands on this time around

Pancake Kit Kat!
These ones were for Easter, and they taste like maple syrup

Sakura-Matcha Kit Kat! 桜抹茶
I found out recently that apparently these are only available in the big airports in Japan!  I got lucky with this find!  While me and Takeru's mom were waiting in line to check in at Narita airport before leaving Japan, I sent him over to a gift shop because I saw that they had Kit Kats, but I didn't know what kind.  When he told me the flavors, of course I got excited that I could add this to my sakura snack list also!  I read online that this summer they will have another airport exclusive melon-cheese flavored Kit Kat, and I told my friend Tomo who will be visiting America at the end of this summer to get me some on her way! XD Anyway, as for the way the sakura-matcha Kit Kats flavor- I was expecting a strong matcha flavor, similar to the original matcha Kit Kats, but it's actually more of the sakura flavor with a light matcha after taste! I was happy about that.  These are up there in my top favorites along with cheesecake, cookies and cream, and raspberry (all 3 flavors I tried my first time in Japan, so unfortunately I don't think I still have pictures)

Beni Imo Kit Kat! 紅いも
Beni imo is a purple sweet potato, common in Okinawa.  I got these from the Yunessun gift shop.  They didn't really have that strong of a beni imo flavor unfortunately, but still good!

Sake Kit Kats! 日本酒
These were at the top of my want-to-try list!  I'm so glad I was able to find these last minute in Narita Airport.  They even smell and have a bit of an actual alcohol taste!

And here's all of them! (plus regular matcha flavor)

I want to try more!! But not wasabi....

Nagoya Matsuri Weekend! (Part 2)

It was raining allll day today, but we still crammed the day with fun stuff! I do have a cold now, as a result of being with my sick Jer, and being out in the rain all weekend...but it was totally worth it! <3

Our very sweet teacher, Sowa sensei and his family first invited us over for breakfast, then took me and my friend Emily to a nearby elementary school to see them put on a performance for the gods of traditional fighting to celebrate the Omori festival (unfortunately it had to be indoors because of the rain. It was so cool to watch!), and then to Nagoya Castle, then finally, we had dinner with them at their house.

Teehee, smiling for the camera

I actually like the raining misty look

Hehe, they were cute =3

Real gold leaf was used in these paintings!

So many steps to the top of the tower!

View from the top <3

They had the cutest puppy!
Aaaand here's some food porn!

Making onigiri

Mmmmm

It was so interesting how these seemingly westernish foods had flavors that you wouldn't normally think to pair together, yet it was all so good!

Different flavored kawaii chocolate!

I also got to try a persimmon for the first time, but I didn't get a picture.
