Blog: Japan Day 5 Part 1: Vintage Stores in Koenji

I took a little break from my Japan blog posts because of the bunch of modeling I've been up to lately, and I didn't have wifi at home, but I do now! =D

On this day, we were really feeling the time limit start to affect what we wanted to do =/  I'm going to try to post links to the stores' websites/Instagram pages if I follow or can find them, sort of like a Koenji shopping guide!

We began by trying a type of ramen made with milk that is one of Takeru's favorites at a place called Ramen Manpuku (ラーメン万福).  Actually the first message he ever sent me on Line was a picture of this ramen and him telling me about it XD So I was really excited to finally try it (even though it sounded so strange).  It was so good!  I think it's my favorite ramen so far.

I just did a google search of this place to see if they had a website or anything (they do not) and found that RocketNews24 (really cool blog/news about Japan) did an article about it!  I'm surprised since I wasn't able to find out much about it online, and according to Takeru, it's not a super popular place except for with ramen fanatics.

After we ate, we rushed through the vintage clothing stores.  We spent some time in the first store called Comyu, and talked to the girl who works there, and she goes to the school that I want to go to!  The store is so cute and has a lot of Gunne Sax dresses!

Then this store I follow on Instagram! I didn't even realize when I went there until after XD I can't find if they have a website though...

And here's another one that I didn't realize I followed on Instagram already when I went inside.  They had sooooo many Gunne Sax dresses in this one!  It's called Aileen by GrogGrog

This one I couldn't find a website for, but they have a Facebook page.  It's so bright and colorful!

This one is called Tatouage by Zool.  I didn't get a chance to go inside unfortunately DX But you guys better believe next time/when I live in Tokyo, I'm gonna explore and blog so hard and in detail about everything I can find here!

And last but not least, the shop I had been planning to go to ever since I discovered it by accident on Instagram a while ago, Fizz! It's actually right above Tatouage. They have a huge, beautiful selection of Gunne Sax dresses!  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to buy any at that time.  They were pricier ones, but for good reason as they were the nicest dresses, good condition, and well taken care of!  I will definitely be visiting this store in the future :D

Review: Jill Stuart Cherry Shell Nail Polish

I've been meaning to review this forever!  This was a gift to me from my Japanese friend two years ago at the end of my study abroad as a birthday/going away gift.  It's the only Jill Stuart item I currently own, and I believe you can only get it in Japan.  The color is called Cherry Shell

The color is absolutely perfect, my favorite shade of pink!  It also dries surprisingly fast

Blog: Yesterday with Friends

Just a little post about my day yesterday.  I was thinking about leaving my camera at home, but I'm so glad I didn't!

First of all, we spotted a very photogenic rabbit eating lunch! It let me get so close without running away

After that, we went to go play badminton (original plan was tennis, but rain....)

There was a sudden downpour while we were inside, so when we went outside after the rain, there were a few soaked cicadas hanging onto leaves.  At least they cant fly in your face when they're wet XP  Very unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I actually like the cicadas!  You only get to see them like this every 17 years!  They're annoying when they fly like right at my face, but I don't mind if they land on me nicely, or if I pick one up and let it crawl on me.  They are a bit loud, but it doesn't bother me that much

Then after the rain, while we were deciding what to eat, there was a rainbow!

Wet cicadas, photogenic bunny, and perfect rainbow.  Glad I brought my camera!

These are both from shoots done by Cleo, makeup, photography, and wardrobe in the second one.  Definitely one of my top favorite photographers to work with!  And of course we have great chemistry working together.  Seriously, I look like two different people!

Blog: Grungy Photo Shoot with Cleo - Behind the Scenes and Sneak Peak

Omgggg, I had such an amazing shoot yesterday with Cleo's Photography! 

She asked me for ideas of what we could do for our shoot, and I for once, came up with a blank. We already knew what location we wanted. I have a closet full of awesome cute dresses, which is my usual go-to when I want to look really good for something, but I've already done a lot of that kind of style, though I do love it. But it's my main style, and as a model, I'll have to make many different styles look good! I think I nailed it ;D

First of all, my makeup and hair were transformed by Doll Face. The makeup was smokier and had more contouring than I ever do on my own. It's always fun to see what someone who doesn't do makeup on your face everyday, and has a different style and more experience can do! It's truly amazing, the magic of makeup. Here, I will dump a bunch of selfies I took XD

Cleo did the styling, and the wardrobe was made up of a mixture of her's, mine, and my boyfriend's clothing (his everyday style is basically the boy version of what we were going for) XD It was fun to wear such a different style than what I usually wear, because I've always admired this style very much, but was never sure that I could pull it off. I totally could though! Not only was the clothing style super different, but I had to pose in a different way than I ever had to before. I had to do kind of an effortlessly, lazy kind of sexy look. But it wasn't actually effortless for me! Effortless and comfortable ends up with me laughing and doing something stupid or dorky, and I'm used to doing a more cutesy, innocent kind of look when modeling, so I had to do a little bit of acting. This was definitely a good experience booster and portfolio builder for me XD

The location is a place I had seen from afar and had been wanting to check out/shoot at for years. I got many bug bites and we had do do a small amount of hiking and climbing, but it was so worth it! It almost looked like this place was set up with multiple perfect shooting locations. I kind of wish I could have brought my camera to get some good shots of how cool this location was, but since my old camera was stolen during a shoot, I decided to play it safe and leave it behind.
